Description

The drum grapple is a remotely controlled device used to securely grip a 55-gal drum at its top end underneath the bolt ring.

The drum grapple has a single lifting attachment located at the top center that can be connected to the hook of any lifting device (overhead crane, mobile crane, etc.). A Harting connector feeds the power/control cabling to the grapple.

It has three lifting arms, each with an actuated hinged gripper attached to the free end, to evenly distribute the load between the lift points.

The remote 60° (stepper motor) rotation of the grapple (angular position control) ensures the grippers position away from the drum closure ring bolt, then securing the grip.

Fail-safe, self-centring and position confirmation redundant switches (strikers) are part of the system safety features combined to load confirmation through incorporated load cell.

Benefits / Advantages / Features

  • Lifting capacity of 1,000 kg (2,200 lb.).
  • Equipped with electrical actuators for the latching and rotating motion.
